Hey Guys,
It sure seems that the heat has been turned up a little more than usual! I don't remember temperatures in the 90's this early into summer. I have one great suggestion for you to beat the heat this summer. It is church on Sunday mornings and on Wednesday evenings. You just come out and we will provide the AC!!! I remember going to a funeral a few years ago in the middle of summer in an old country church and they had fans mounted on the walls down the side of the aisles. I remember thinking this isn't cooling me down, it's just moving around the heat.
We have come a long way since those days of hard wooden pews and funeral home fans to get you through a service. Today we have the latest and the greatest of everything to make us comfortable and our lives easier, but at the same time something is still missing. We go at an unbelievable pace to give our children and families the best that life has to offer. Yet more and more families are finding themselves broken or disconnected from each other and they just can't seem to put their finger on why. We have the best; we go all the time, what's left? Or may I say, what is left over is what we want to give to God. The problem lies in that God does not desire our leftovers. He desires to be first. The Word of God promises us that if we will seek first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness all these things will be added. What are "all these things?" It is not all the bells and whistles that you thought you had to have, only to find out it wasn't what you thought it would be once you got it. No, the things that God will give you, you will cherish forever. It is a life with meaning and purpose, and a God who is never too busy for me, even though I am often too busy for Him. It is providing for every need, protection and direction for every step, and bringing a sense of destiny that cannot be explained, only experienced. God is putting destiny in our hearts every time we meet together. He is moving in our kids; He is moving in our youth, and He wants to move in a greater capacity within you. I encourage you this summer as you make your plans, let them start with serving God as a family and as an individual. Then the heat you will feel will not be the summer heat, but a fiery passion for Jesus, who is the answer for this hurting world.
I love you guys greatly and thank God daily for the opportunity to be your Shepherd.
